Question: Regulation on electric scooters for kids in california?

I was thinking of buying an small electric scooter that go up to 10mph for my 10yr old boy but don't know the regulations for electric scooters. On the electric scooter box said it's for 8yrs and older so is it ok for my kid to ride it on the sidewalk of the street?

It is not legal on the sidewalk. On street you need to have a driver's license to be legal. The Regulations you need to read is: CVC 407.5 definition of a motorized scooter CVC 21220-21235 Operation of Motorized Scooters leginfo.ca.gov/ cgi-bin/ calawquery?codesection= veh You can ignore the law, and hope no Cop impounds it. Or your kid car ride a pedal bicycle, legally on the streets, learning how to ride safely.

Not sure about the regulations, but how will he lock up the scooter? Just something to think about, a lot of scooters don't really have anywhere to lock up to

Get it for him its not like a 10 year old is going to get arrested but make sure he only rides with a adult watching

You need a license to drive anything except a bicycle, there is no country which allows people to drive on road without licenses, it’s dangerous and illegal, and traffic cops will get you and then pay money or suffer in jail for two days. If you don’t have a license just go to a govt. center they will provide you full information..
