1. Loosen the rear axle, and pull rear wheel so the chain tightens, tightening the chain, but not too tight. Tighten the axle back down and the axle bolts will keep the chain tight. 2. If your scooter has a chain tension adjuster, then you will be able to adjust the chain's slack with the adjuster. Usually, an adjuster will be plastic and the chain will rub up against this adjuster to take up the slack. If your chain is loose, then you will need to loosen the chain tension adjuster, and tighten it back down after you have set the appropriate chain slack. A good rule of thumb regarding chain slack, is about 1/ 2 " of play side to side. -Too loose and you will slip the chain. -Too tight and the parts will wear out quicker and the scooter will not perform 100% -Just right (1/ 2 " slack) will keep you on the road, and will be much easier on parts. |
